Master Key Week 7 – Play to Win in the Game of Life
Not whining tho’. That wouldn’t do either. In fact a big piece of this week’s focus was becoming aware of any negative thoughts and replacing them with a positive thought within 7 seconds. Then choosing the feeling I wanted to attach to the thought. Ever try that?
Sound easy eh? Yah – I thought so too on Monday morning. I soon found out even though many people tell me I’m the most positive guy they know… I wasn’t the positive “thinker” I wanted to be. Seems I was experiencing bursts of positive thoughts in the midst of a sea of negative vibes!
Fortunately my concentration increased throughout the week. As I retrained my brain I could feel the difference in my whole being. Duh? Funny how we habitually carry on with countless patterns daily… totally unconscious of the reason we get the results we do. Until we stop to observe the thought and consciously decide how we want to feel about it. Then just do it. Play to win!
The second part I found tough this week was the 15 minute sit Haanel included in lesson 7. An integral component of this course is the daily “sit” which in essence is a short meditation.
Here’s how it plays out…
Preferably same time, same chair in the same room every day to develop the habit. OK I can do that. NOT! Missed several times this week! Haanel would say – go to your room! lol
Each day I am to sit still for at least fifteen minutes and concentrate on relaxing my mind and body to attain a calm state and focus on specific things. This week I was to visualize a conversation with a good friend about my successful journey in the past tense – i.e. a couple of years in the future. Visualization of the interview in my future press release.
The Guy in the Mirror Talks Back!
OK – I admit I fell off the wagon this week on the sits and it hurts ’cause I promised accountability to the guy in the mirror.
And when I looked him in the eye this week he actually talked back to me. Believe it! I gather he was not pleased with my performance! I had promised him success!
And I had let him down.
So, I ‘fessed up to my falling down a time or two…
And I acknowledge my failure, learn from it, climb back on my horse and git goin’ again!
I was inspired by this short movie clip Mark J included as part of the week7 lesson. It reaches out to me every time I watch it. Take a couple of minutes and enjoy it.
Visualization: Back to the Future Again…
Ever since I read back in the 70’s I understand the power of visualization in achieving change and goals. However Haanel wrote this long before Maltz was a gleam in his dad’s eye, so pay close attention this truth.
For me it was a back to the future moment and a wake up call!
In 7:7 Haanel emphasizes:
“Then comes the process of visualization. You must see the picture more and more complete, see the detail, and, as the details begin to unfold the ways and means for bringing it into manifestation will develop. One thing will lead to another. Thought will lead to action, action will develop methods, methods will develop friends, and friends will bring about circumstances, and, finally, the third step, or Materialization, will have been accomplished”.
And I know from many years of concrete being added to me (baggage) that knowing about a particular method is NOT the same as knowing it works from results achieved.
I see now my half hearted efforts in the past to try it to “see if it works” were totally absurd! You have to believe it before you’ll see it. Then take inspired action to move towards your intention. The methods and resources will appear as needed as you read in the quote. I’m getting it – one piece at a time.
Haanel goes on to clarify this in 7:13
“Clearness and accuracy are obtained only by repeatedly having the image in mind. Each repeated action renders the image more clear and accurate than the preceding, and in proportion to the clearness and accuracy of the image will the outward manifestation be. You must build it firmly and securely in your mental world, the world within, before it can take form in the world without”.
I can hear you saying, “but, Dennis, it can’t be that easy or more people would be doing it”. You’re right! Of course it’s not EASY.
It’s HARD mental labour and few folks have the ilk to blow away their negative bias and park their ego long enough to get the results they say they want. Maybe you do or you wouldn’t be reading this post. This is key…
You can’t expect to do it reading a few quotes on a post where I reflect on my weekly experiences with the Master Key Master Mind Alliance. That’s my hero’s journey not yours. Of course I’m grateful you’re along for the ride and commenting on my posts – happy to see you here. Hang around it get’s even more exciting!
