To succeed in America you need 3 things - A smile, a gun and a plan. If you have to give up one, give up the smile. If you have to give up two, give the smile and the gun. But whatever you do... Don't EVER give up da PLAN
How to Focus on Goals, Find True Happiness & Success
Al Capone isn’t the role model I would want for my grandson, but his message rings of truth. To focus on goals you’ve got to have a definite plan.
Have you ever thought…
Does happiness suddenly arrive on your door step once you have achieved your goal? Or do you achieve success because you choose to be happy when you focus on your goals? This short post will show you how to answer the 3 most important questions for setting goals so you can experience life on your terms.
What’s the Big Deal About Goals Anyway?
We’ve all seen the S.M.A.R.T Goals banter for years now and may have even tried to follow the structure for your success plan. And if it’s worked for you… fantastic! I relate to the specific and measurable pieces but achievable is simply mindset and realistic is downright silly.
Let’s face it, if your goal was realistic you’d already have it. Goals out of reach but not out of sight give you something to work towards. The whole Smart Goals gig must be a corporate thing. Top down managers love this acronym because they think it gets employees to focus on corporate goals. Not convinced. Are you? It lacks inspiration. What about personal goals?
Get Up Close and Personal with Your Goals
What do you want to experience in your life? Isn’t that the elephant in the room in any conversation about personal goals? Yes, of course everyone will tell you, they want more money, a better job, a new car, a bigger house, to complete a university degree and the beat goes on.
They are simply the means to the end. And they may be important but to what end? What does success mean to you? A brilliant man and great inspiration to millions around the world defines it like this:
The journey and adventures along the way are what life’s all about. But you do have to start with the end in mind – your vision.
So choose a worthy ideal. Then create a vision of what your life will be like when you’ve achieved your goals. Decide what you want to experience. Build your personal goals around your vision. Plan the action required by breaking down the goal to month, weekly and daily steps.
Your focus then becomes the daily activity and the compounding effect of the daily activity gets you to your weekly and monthly goals.
The Proven Formula for Success
This formula is no secret. It’s been the theme of the Hero’s Journey for centuries. It’s also been used by millions around the world exactly as it appears in Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich. The four essential components are an integral part of my Master Key Experience and highly effective.
- A Definite Major Purpose backed by a burning desire for its attainment.
- A definite plan backed by consistent, continuous action.
- A mind closed tightly against all negative influences including negative suggestions of family, friends and acquaintances.
- A friendly master mind alliance with one or more people who will encourage one to follow through on both plan and purpose.
The top benefits in the Master Key Experience (for me) were the hands on support to uncover my true purpose and develop my (DMP) and then formulate a plan of action (POA) to achieve my goals. The positive mental attitude (PMA) you develop through out the course will last a life time. And the friendly mastermind alliance (MMA) is inspiring, supportive and intriguing to say the least.
